ONE OF OUR MISSIONS

"promote the development and identity of Toronto's Francophone community."

The Francophone community in Toronto

According to the 2001 census, more than 34 900 francophones live in the city of Toronto.
This represents:

- 1.42 percent of the 2 456 805 residents of Toronto,

- 6.67 percent of the 522 765 Ontarians whose mother tongue is French,

- 43.5 percent of the 80 120 francophones living in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), which includes the regions of Durham, Halton, Peel, and York in addition to the city of Toronto.

Franco-Torontonians: a dedicated community

The Toronto's Francophone community is one of the most active groups in our city. Many volunteers make a much needed difference by getting involved in various community organizations and governmental institutions whose objective is to promote our diverse heritage, rich culture, and special needs.

The CTFC has published a comprehensive directory dedicated to the francophone organizations located in Toronto. A French copy of this directory can be downloaded from the community resources area of this site.
